Flow liberating the entrepreneurial spirit for good.

Please mark your calendar. We have the back patio at the Dog and
Duck Pub reserved for Wednesday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm for a FLOW
Austin networking mixer! We are excited that we will have time to get
to know each other and other FLOW-minded folks! We can eat, drink and
find out about personal and business interests of our members and
guests. We'll also get to discover what our members interest in
speakers or topics are for this year. This a great chance to
network. Folks have been asking for it. We plan to have a great
gathering despite this short notice.

The FLOW Vision is based on the principles of economic freedom,
voluntary exchange, and individual initiative, combined with social
and environmental consciousness, and embodies FLOW Principles, which
include commitments to human flourishing, non-violence, and radical
tolerance.
The name “FLOW” has two primary roots:

An optimal state of human experience in which individuals are fully
engaged in creative endeavors, experiencing fulfillment, happiness,
and well-being. This state is articulated by psychologist Mihaly
Csikszentmihalyi in Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience.

The means by which increases in the free global flow of goods,
services, capital, people, and information will accelerate human
progress and well-being.
We believe that the entrepreneurial spirit fosters the flow state, and
entrepreneurial creativity and innovation can create conditions that
promote sustainable peace, prosperity, and happiness for all, in our
lifetime.

We envision a world in which everyone is living a life of flow: with
meaningful engagement in productive, positive activity based upon
creativity, optimism, and personal initiative.

In Gratitude,
Doug Mullins

    •  Force people to wear name tags, or have them pre-printed with name/company/position or something. This facilitates easier introductions and if you're like me, helps when you forget someone's name 5 seconds after hearing them tell you. Second, have some kind of opener. It's perfectly reasonable for the meeting organizer to get up for 30 seconds and say thanks, tell briefly what the meeting is about and maybe promote some upcoming events. You have a captive audience and they can handle a little bit of marketing. Leaving the meeting, I felt that I had met a few people of interest, but am still unsure of whether I'll come back. I like the flow concept, but didn't necessarily get the feeling that everyone was on the same page. I'm sure I'll give it one more shot, and thanks for organizing it!
